FAQs

We use an EPA approved water based solution that contains the synthetic version of Pyrethrum (an organic compound known as pyrethroids) which is derived from the flower heads of Chrysanthemums (The African Daisy). Pyrethroids are used in lice shampoos for children as well as flea shampoos for dogs. We do recommend staying out of the treated area until it dries, which in most cases is 30 minutes. A risk/benefit balancing analysis conducted by the EPA saw the benefits of permethrin dramatically outweighing the risks. In a comparative test with DEET, when put directly on the skin, typically less than 1% of the active Permethrin ingredient is absorbed into the body; DEET can be absorbed at over 20 times that rate.

Each treatment is meant to last up to 21 days.

A typical treatment will average about 10-20 minutes. Larger yards may take longer to treat. Each treatment lasts approximately 21 days, at which time our team will be scheduled to treat your yard again. Our fine mist Barrier Spray kills adult mosquitoes on contact during the first application. The dried residue continues to provide protection for three weeks (21 days) when the mosquitoes land or feed on the vegetation. The following treatments will kill the larvae of the mosquitoes creating a safe and fun backyard.

The number of mosquitoes in your yard will decline drastically! Nobody can promise you that you will never see a mosquito again, but we will promise that our service will reduce up to 95% of those pesky Mosquitoes.

Not typically. Mosquitoes do not usually seek shelter in the grass. When first treating your property, our technician will do a pre-spray walk to seek out the areas where mosquitos might be resting. The most common areas to find mosquitoes during the day include: the underside of the leaves of dense/shrubby plants, under decks and in damp shady areas of the property. We do recommend that you keep your grass short during the mosquito season. In some cases such as special events like weddings and large outdoor parties, we will spray the grass where your guests will be.

No. We will leave a notice that you received your Knockout Mosquito Control treatment. Any pets will need to be brought inside during the treatment and can return to the yard after it has dried (~30 minutes). Please unlock any gates that will be needed for access to your yard.

No, because our chemicals are derived from plants and formulated to target pests, your plants will not be harmed.

No, as long as the treatment has sufficient time to dry (30 mins) your treatment will last the 21 days.

How Dangerous are Mosquito Bites?

Mosquitoes are arguably among the most dangerous animals on the planet accounting for millions of deaths every year. These flying parasites have the ability to carry and transmit diseases to humans. For the most part, mosquito bites are nothing more than an itchy nuisance that will go away on its after 24 hours.

How ticks spread disease

Most ticks go through four life stages: egg, six-legged larva, eight-legged nymph, and adult. After hatching from the eggs, ticks must eat blood at every stage to survive. Ticks that require this many hosts can take up to 3 years to complete their full life cycle, and most will die because they don’t find a host for their next feeding.
